FARM-LAND SUSTAINMENT

It is a project basically to cater for the farming needs of farmers in rural areas in Ghana. It is indeed a rib of rural community development project. Most rural farmers in the country have the skill but lack that technological knowledge/idea in modern farming; even if they have, the financial needs restrain them drastically. On statistics, about 80% of rural folks in our communities are mostly farmers due to the fact that farming ‘skill/talent’ is a generational traditional inheritance; thus from Great-grand father to grand father, from grand father to father, and then from father to son/daughter.

They even ignore the idea of mobilizing funds from their farm proceeds to upgrade their minds on new technological farming methods. For instance, they normally produce for their own stomach on the peasant way and a little for sale during market days to buy a quantity of fish and cooking ingredients.

Cocoa and other cash crop farmers do well sometimes but their efforts are mostly haltered due to lack of funds to purchase modern equipments and the technical know-how in some cases.

Why volunteers needed?

Farm-land Sustainment is very challenging but lucrative to be placed on. You get the opportunity working with the native people in villages who are quick to welcome you. They are hardworking and helpful and your imagination could not be understood overall.

We have to also bare in mind that farmers in Ghana constitute about 75% but still struggling to meet the feeding needs of the populace while their colleagues in other continents (America, Europe, Australia etc) constitute about 10-20% but produce more food than needed and even ship/export excess to our continent. It’s all about the technical know-how and funding to upgrade. This is the more reason why volunteers are warmly needed. Note, all necessary information will be given to applicants after their placement.
