Accommodation
We provide both volunteer house & home stay accommodations for our volunteer. Volunteers will be staying with local families in the rural communities and in some situations; in the capital city. All volunteer house & home stays are located in safe neighborhoods and are within distances which may be short/long to your project locations depending on the project type. Volunteer should take into consideration that Ghanaian/the rural communities’ living standards are probably lower than those of your home country, but the home stay will be clean and comfortable. A level of flexibility will need to be fostered on the part of the volunteer to adjust to our customs/culture and the host family's life especially the way we bath, eat, talk etc.
You will be provided with a single private room but on occasion, you may be asked to share a room with another volunteer. Most of the rooms will have adequate ventilation and insect protection. Your home stay experience will be one of the highlights of your placement. We feel that this is the best way to become familiar with our culture and practice our local languages. If you prefer to have your own private accommodation, we will gladly arrange other types of accommodations (apartments, hostels, hotels etc). Please inquire about alternative accommodations when booking.
Food
You will receive 2 meals a day with your accommodation. Most host families usually stay out of home in the afternoons or work on their farm lands. Fruits sometimes are provided by some communities as a token. Food will be standard Ghanaian cuisine (especially the fufu, banku, ampesi etc). All food and drinks served by your host families are safe.
